Demographic Information
Trade Area is defined to comprise a primary sector, four secondary sectores and three tertiary sectors, as follows;
A primary sector extending 5 km around the site to the north, east and west and around 10km south of the site along the Pacific Motorway. The major suburbs in this region include Marsden, Logan, Woodridge, Springwood, Beenleigh, Shailer Park and Underwood.
- The secondary south-west sector extending from Browns Plains in the north through to Beaudesert in the south and including Jimboomba and Park Ridge.
- A secondary north-east sector comprising the coastal suburbs of Victoria Point, Redland Bay and Mount Cotton.
- A secondary south-east sector encompassing the suburbs located around the Pacific Motorway from Beenleigh in the north through to Ormeau in the south.
- A secondary north-west sector comprising the middle Brisbane suburbs of Eight Mile Plains, Mount Gravatt, McGregor, Mansfield and Holland Park.
The current total trade area population is estimated at 1.4 million people in 2004, including 463,200 people in the main trade area. The recent population growth in the trade area, including the main trade area, has been strong. Annual growth rates throughout the trade area averaged 2.3% between 1996 and 2001, higher than the comparable Brisbane average of 1.8%. In the future, the population is projected to continue to grow strongly, at an annual rate of 1.5% - 2.0% over the forecast period of 2016.
